Where to buy in Rennes?
Thabor and the old town remain the most expensive addresses: stone buildings, parquet floors and mouldings, but often compact homes and little parking. Just south of the Vilaine, Sainte-Thérèse and the station area offer 1930s houses with gardens, fifteen minutes’ walk from Place de la République.
To the east, Saint-Hélier and Baud-Chardonnet are rising fastest: old workshops turned into lofts, new buildings on the riverbanks, and reduced notary fees on new builds. For a first purchase or a buy-to-let, Villejean, Maurepas and Bréquigny remain affordable and are served by the metro.
What about the wider area?
Twenty minutes from the centre, Pacé, Cesson-Sévigné and Bréal-sous-Montfort offer houses with land for the price of a large flat in town. We sell stone longères, village houses and recent homes there.

Do you need a car to live in Rennes?
Rarely: the two metro lines and the bus network serve every neighbourhood on the map, and the city is flat and good for cycling.
New build or older property?
On new builds, notary fees drop to around 2.5% instead of 7.5%, and the energy rating is excellent. Older properties offer more space and character for the same budget, but allow for insulation work.
How long does it take to buy?
Allow three months between signing the sale agreement and completion at the notary’s, to obtain the loan and lift the conditions.
